Biomed: Modelling and Simulation in Biology and Medicine

Special Session in conjunction with the 3rd International Conference on Simulation and Modeling Methodologies, Technologies and Applications - SIMULTECH 2013

Mathematical modelling and simulation are assuming a relevant role in supporting research in medicine and biology and offers a useful tool in understanding the basic mechanism of many physiological processes. Topics range from theoretical analysis to numerical simulations of intracellular phenomena, from computational hemodynamics to simulation of cell structures and functions, from data mining to computational image analysis. This special session offers a wide overview of the different models and techniques for biological and biomedical applications: its aim is to encourage the exchange of information between theoretical and applicative fields, bringing together mathematicians, engineers, biologists in a interdisciplinary perspective and building a bridge between simulation capabilities and biotechnological demand.
