Computational Cell Biology: The Interplay between Models and Experimentation

The specific goal for this meeting is to foster fruitful and creative interactions between experimental cell biologists and mathematical/computational scientists who have common interests in the dynamics of cellular processes. All stages of the modeling process will be represented at the meeting, from data generation in experimental cell biology, to data analysis and computer simulation, to the development and validation of quantitative models describing the data, to the models informing further experimentation. The meeting will consist of eight oral sessions plus a poster session and software demonstrations.

Specific discussion topics will include:
- Signal processing, circuit design, and decision making
- Noise and statistical physics in cells
- Cell mechanics: Shape, motility, and cytoskeleton
- Development
- Synthetic biology
- Imaging and computer vision of cells
- Evolution
- Organizing principles of biological systems
